Presenter: Ryan Anderson, Mathews, Dinsdale & Clark LLP A partner at our Vancouver office, Ryan has worked in the human resources field for over two decades and advises employers in all areas of workplace law. Ryan represents provincially and federally regulated employers concerning both labour relations and employment matters, including those concerning human rights issues, employment standards and employment contracts, termination of employment, workers’ compensation, occupational health and safety, union organizing, collective agreements, grievances and arbitration, progressive discipline and investigations into employee misconduct. Ryan regularly assists employers and human resources professionals with the day-to-day challenges of managing employees, with the aim of minimizing liabilities and maintaining positive employee relations. Ryan also prepares all of the necessary employment-related documents and contracts, and regularly represents employers in collective bargaining negotiations. As an advocate, Ryan represents employers in a wide variety of forums, including administrative tribunals and labour arbitrations. In addition, Ryan provides practical training in all manner of human resource management topics. Ryan has been a teacher in the human resources field for more than 20 years, most recently as an Instructor at Simon Fraser University, teaching a labour and employment relations course to human resources professionals working towards a CPHR designations. Previously, Ryan was an Instructor at Capilano University, where he taught a similar course to business students for over ten years. Ryan is also the co-author of the university textbook titled “Employment Law for Business and Human Resources Professionals (British Columbia and Alberta; 4th Edition)”. |
